So I've been bugging Landon a lot about whether he wants to learn to read or not, and he keeps saying no. And I keep thinking about all the free time I would have if he would just read to himself. But last night I froze the TV on a word that shows up occasionally on PBS - on their in between shows, but not commercials clippy things - the word was CAT. There was no picture of a cat, just the word in pink sparkly letters. I asked him if he knew what it said and he said "CAT."
I said "HEY! You can read!"
And he said "No I can't, I just know that word, because I like kitties."
So a little while later we were reading one of the Phineas and Ferb books he got for Christmas (terrible purchase on my part, they are chapter books and exactly the same as the episodes, only they take a lot longer to read, and have very few pictures) and he stopped me and pointed to the name "Stacy" and said "That says Stacy."
And I was like "Yes, yes it does! Do you realize you're reading?"
He continues to deny the ability - but it's so totally coming out, it's unbelievable. And wonderful and YAY!!
